!!!!!!!!PUSHING DAISIES CANCELLED!!!!!!!!

While ABC has not made an official statement yet, several sources are confirming that ABC has pulled the plug on Pushing Daisies including EOnline.com's Kristin Dos who has been in direct contact with Brian Fuller. The show has been on the bubble almost since it premiered this season because of its slumping ratings with this past Wednesday's airing pulling its lowest numbers so far. According to Brian Fuller, ABC President Steve McPherson pushed hard for a renewal, but parent company Disney was unwilling to greenlight additional episodes. Fuller has claimed that he is not too upset at this point over the cancellation and that he is proud of the twenty two episodes they have completed. He also plans to wrap up the storylines that will be left hanging after the cliffhanger thirteenth episode in comic books and that he is also preparing a pitch for a possible big screen continuation of the franchise. (And the good news for Heroes fans is that the cancellation will likely lead to his return to that NBC series).

While I understand that the sinking ratings drove the ultimate decision to cancel the show, I wish that ABC would have allowed them to at least do a two-hour wrap up movie. This would make future DVD packages more appealing (providing a more satisfying conclusion), and possibly pave the wave for additional television movies. I figure the chances of a big screen version of Pushing Daises actually coming to fruition are slim, as Hollywood would be reluctant to pour money into a project based on a failed television series. Sure, Joss Whedon continued Firefly on the big screen, but that movie was not considered a success by Hollywood standards and will likely deter similar ventures in that direction.

Also, I don't see another network trying to acquire Pushing Daisies as it does not fit well on cable networks like the Sci Fi Channel, TNT, or Lifetime. ABC Family would have been the most likely choice (it would have paired up well with The Middleman which itself is still in limbo), but I don't know if that channel could foot the budget. At this point, it seems that any continuation beyond a comic book series is unlikely seeing as Fuller is resigned to its fate and will likely soon be very busy working on Heroes.

Unless I hear of a strong push to lobby ABC for a TV movie finale or a strong possibility that the show could move to another network, I figure that there is no reason to continue with the daisy shipments. I have about $65 in remaining donations which I will donate to a charity. All of us fans should be proud of our efforts. We did a hell of a job sending the message that we love Pushing Daisies to ABC with the daisies, seeds, pies, letters, etc. Unfortunately, cold, hard business decisions ruled at the end of day.

I will continue to post updates as I receive new information. I will also keep readers updated on the progress of the comic book series Fuller plans to write. In the mean time, we still have seven more new episodes coming over the next couple of months, so enjoy the show while it is still on the air.

Thank you for all your support,
Paul S. White

Hi. While I am not a fan of "save the show" campaigns which involve sending things to execs (they seem pointless to me) I am a fan of charity and doing things that actually can help a show.

According to an insider, Pushing Daisies Season 1 DVDs need to sell 150,000 more copies in order for ABC to consider a direct to video movie. What we as fans need to do is set up a donation drive to put copies of Pushing Daisies into libraries across the country. This will push efforts towards buying DVDs, which may actually accomplish something, as well as doing something charitable.

You can also encourage fans to buy the DVDs for everyone they know for Christmas. Other efforts are pointless, to be frank, but this is something which will actually sway network execs, because it involves them actually getting money out of the show.

Please consider this. I'm going to send this to several other websites and I hope you all can get together to make a joint effort to get these DVDs sold.

We should not quit now! Now is that slim window to show outrage and protest! If the Jericho fans can do it, why not us? Let's try to get it back!!!!

Can you confirm about the direct to video movie? I have heard nothing about that. I would think that the fans could swing the 150,000 units and it would be a great way to continue the series (the Stargate franchise has already successfully ventured into this territory).

*sighs* Have you NO knowledge whatsoever of online save such and such show campaigns? It doesn't stop when a show is announced to be canceled, that's usually when the campaign is supposed to be even more adament. Take for example the piece of crap called Jericho last year. It was canceled due to ratings and crappy critic reviews, but enough fans sent nuts after the cancelation announcement that they came back with a mini-series conclusion.

Give me back my 10 bucks I donated yesterday:

aldrea_1@yahoo.com

I'll invest it in more daisy seeds myself.

I'm concerned ABC won't be able to find a rat's ass to give, honestly. Let's start talking to NBC's Sci-Fi channel about picking this up.

If Disney if the problem, we need to lobby Disney. It looks like we had support from the highest level at ABC, so we need to find out who to contact at Disney SPECIFICALLY that is in charge of determining the fate of the show and hit them hard with seeds, cards, e-mails, ANYTHING to show support.

If Jerico could do it, so can we. We still have the rest of te episodes to show them how passionate we are about the show. But we need to know WHO we need to contact. I'd say it's mor elikely to get the show re-greenlighted at ABC rather than having it moved....so SOMEONE find out who we need to contact at Disney and let's get on that.

By the way,it would be great on cable, let´s not fail to cantact them

If you're on Twitter, you can tag your Tweets on this topic with the hashtag #savedaisies .... that will make it easy to track all Daisies-related posts with a single search for that hashtag.

What a great show. I just saw it for the first time today (downloaded at abc's website) because I heard about the outrage over its cancelation. If it gets saved, count me in as a loyal viewer.

of Course this week was the lowest ratings it hasn't been on for the past TWO WEEKS on ABC in the US due to the elections and then the CMA's .. people just assumed it wouldn't be on again!!

awful. abc made a big mistake.

My reason for stopping this campaign is because it seems that Brian Fuller has accepted the fate of the show. If it looked like he was going to lobby for a renewal or move to a new network (similar to what the producers of Jericho did), I would keep up the cause here. But it seems like he is ready to move along to his next project (most likely a return to Heroes).

I am going to keep an eye on the other campaigns and see if a new initiative starts up such as the one mentioned above to lobby for a direct to DVD movie and will use this site to lend support.

Feh. You may have given up, but we haven't. I refuse to accept the cancellation as inevitable until mid-January has come and gone. If we haven't heard anything by then when the last episode's supposed to air, Then I'll accept that it's not coming back. BUT NOT A SECOND BEFORE.

You can't give up , I'm from Germany and PD has got very good ratings I won't give up ,too

I've started a blog to save creativity in television, and I wanted to advertise your blog but you gave up at the word cancelled even though it has not even been made official yet.

Family Guy and Kim Possible were both dead and gone and they got brought back. Kim Possible was brought back by mere fan support, so obviously the mouse can be reasoned with.

Don't give up yet. Fight the good fight. Write another letter. The battle may be lost but the war rages on. Don't give up until it's apparent we're beating a dead horse. But look at the petition...I signed it 15 minutes ago and since then there have been another 60 signatures. The fans are not giving up...so you shouldn't either.

I'm still going to encourage people to save Pushing Daisies in my own blog. If you still decide to fight the fight, I'll link to you, ok?

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I just found out about this and am so incredibly sad! This has been my favorite show since Veronica Mars was cancelled. The wit and sarcasm lacing each episode is incredible, and I am usually laughing myself to tears every week over something that was said or done. Is there anything that can be done to save the show???

the cost of the show was too much for the ratings it received, other shows probably only have ratings issues to consider a better place for the show would be HBO or showtime.

I love tv shows, but this is by far the best and most unique show on tv today and just because Bryan Fuller gave it up (which we don't know for sure, but even if it is so it's because he's had other more concrete business offers and he needs to make a living like us all), doesn't mean we should.

Family Guy was brought back twice after DVD sales were high, Scrubs was bought by another main network (not a cable network!) after being cancelled, and Arrested Development is making a movie. I think these things are never too late. We just need a good strategy and to stick together on it.

Plus, how dumb was it to put it against ANTM and Bones? I love all 3 shows but of course watched Daisies. I'm sending my letter in today or tomorrow. And buying myself the DVD if no one gets it for me for the holidays.

And do you guys know something magical about Jericho that I don't? Because I loved that show too, and near as I can tell, it was resurrected and died again because of stupid TV execs who put stuff in lousy time slots.

I am a huge fan of Pushing Daisies. It was a joy to watch and easy to love ALL the characters which is so hard to find in a show. I have already purchased Season 1 and am extremely disappointed that the show will no longer air. It boggles my mind that pointless reality shows are taking over. What happened to regular TV???
Bring back Pushing Daisies!!

I used to have the greatest respect for american tv series and for the taste of american viewers. Now I don’t anymore. I don’t know who is to blame for this disappointing change.

I haven’t watched the other shows but Pushing Daisies is an extremely brilliant and tastefull show. If they can’t see that, then I really don’t know what to say.

I just watched Pushing Daisies on ABC, is it back on? This episode was where Emmerson finally got to see Penny and get his book published. Was this a new episode or one I missed? The pre-view for next week is of someone getting eaten by a shark and I don't remember that one either! Could the show be back????

I didnt even know what this show was about until I happened to see an episode a couple months ago. I now have both the season 1 and 2 dvds I can't believe they cancelled it, it seems like such a waste I really loved this show. I think if more people actually got a chance to watch an episode they would fall in love with it too.

I just found out this program, "Pushing Daises", was cancelled. I was looking forward to seeing this invocative and beautifully filmed program this fall.
It was quite a change from the usual banal network drivel.
The show was moved around and pre-empted so many times it seems the network wanted it to fail. I loved it but certainly lost track of it.

I have purchased the first DVD and will try to find the second, but I would like to see a conclusion to the story if it is not to return to the screen. Since it was popular enough to run a second season it seems the network owes the followers this much.

It will be hard to commit to watching anything new in the future, if they are going to treat the viewers this way. The current reality shows are not worth wasting time over so perhaps it is best to tune out altogether.

If there is a petition on restore the show or to complete it put my name on the list.
